Timothy B. Berkey, Ed.D., President
Tim Berkey is a veteran leader of public schools in America. Prior to joining the university, Tim served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent spanning a period of thirty years in Ohio and Illinois. His experiences as a principal of three Blue Ribbon schools include state and national recognition for innovative programs by the JFK School of Government, Ford Foundation, National School Boards Association, American Association of School Administrators, Great Lakes Governor’s Association, Crain’s Business Magazine and Newsweek. He currently serves as Chair of Graduate Programs in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Houston-Victoria. He teaches educational leadership and is a two time recipient of the university’s Excellence in Teaching Award. His research and authorship of professional and field based articles focus on the changing roles of school leadership. He serves as a private consultant to school districts and organizations throughout the country and works in the areas of effective educational leadership, change management, teacher leadership, knowledge transfer, and school improvement.
Tim earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Miami University and his graduate and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from the University of Akron. Dr. Berkey ‘s book, “Improving Your Daily Practice: A Guide for Effective School Leadership” published by Eye on Education has served as catalyst for assisting hundreds of school administrators with tools to enhance their leadership of our nation’s schools.
